Industrial boilers and process heating equipment specialist Babcock Wanson is pleased to announce the appointment of David Hatswell as its new UK managing director.
A long-standing Babcock Wanson employee, Hatswell joined the business fulltime in 1997 after he graduated with a BEng in Electronics. Even before then, Hatswell had worked at Babcock Wanson during his holidays, made possible through his father who also enjoyed a long and happy career at Babcock Wanson spanning more than 30 years!
The first five years at Babcock Wanson saw Hatswell learning the ropes as a Service Engineer, moving on to Commissioning Engineer before taking on the role of Field Service Manager at the company’s headquarters in Borehamwood, Hertfordshire. In 2016 David was promoted to service division manager and this year takes over the reins from Chris Horsley as the Company’s new managing director. Horsley, who is now process engineering director, will support Hatswell in his new role over the coming months.
“I’ve taken on this role at a really interesting time for the business, following our recent LBO from the CNIM Group and the subsequent major rebrand which has given us a more international focus” states Hatswell. “Furthermore, the industry as a whole is going through a transitional period, adapting to meet environmental legislation. At Babcock Wanson, we are in the process of defining a clear route to ensure we not only meet those future requirements but exceed them.
“At the same time, it’s my aim to grow the business by focussing on our service offerings, looking at opportunities across the wider industry and not just in our immediate well defined area. Babcock Wanson has an excellent reputation when it comes to service and, with my background in this area, I’m eager to expand this aspect.”
