Conveyor manufacturer Sovex has recruited a director of engineering to round off a year of record-breaking growth.
Dean Chittem joined the Wirral-based firm this month and will oversee all engineering for the servicing, manufacturing and projects division.
Dean’s role was created to keep up with a bulging order book and he is the 19th new recruit to join the expanding company which specialises in the design, manufacture, installation and maintenance of conveyor systems.
The 40- year-old was appointed by Sovex because of his engineering expertise and pedigree having worked for DHL and Toyota during his 20-year career.
Chittem will be based at the company’s headquarters in Prenton.
Chittem said: “I’m really excited to be joining Sovex at a time when it’s growing and going from strength to strength.
“Engineering is one of Sovex’s strong suits whether it’s designing and manufacturing a new product for a client, installing a new conveyor belt system or servicing a piece of equipment.
‘Sovex have an excellent reputation within the market place for being a very personable company, built on excellent customer relationships and as a previous customer myself, the continued development of these relationships will also be a priority.
“I’m really looking forward to bringing my skills set, expertise and experience to the company and the engineering team.”
Sovex has beaten its own ambitious growth plans for 2012 – to boost turnover by 50 per cent from £8m to £12m.
The company’s expansion into Europe and constant sales have meant that turnover is set to hit £x13 million by the end of the year.
Managing director David Lindfield said: “We’re delighted that Dean is joining us here at Sovex. We know he has a great track record in engineering and we plan to draw on his knowledge, ideas and experience.
“It’s also satisfying to be recruiting like this, despite the current economic climate, and creating jobs here on the Wirral and beyond.”
