Warehouse solutions provider KNAPP has launched a series of application-specific workstations. The new workstations are the result of KNAPP’s KiDesign programme, aimed at elevating the profile of ergodynamics and multi-functionality in goods-to-person picking solutions. Unveiled for the first time at CeMAT earlier this year, the group’s brand-new range of ‘Pick-it-Easy’ workstations are designed to meet the needs of three specific and major sectors: e-commerce, grocery and fashion.

Explains Craig Rollason, head of sales and marketing for KNAPP UK, “The Pick-it-Easy range recognises that ergonomics is not a case of one-size-fits-all and that different applications have different requirements. These workstations have been created in close co-operation with both the renowned Institute for Occupational Health of TÜV Rheinland and the Occupational Health Centre in Graz, Austria.” Now featured in KNAPP’s OSR Shuttle goods-to-person picking systems, the workstations were each designed using full-scale models in order to optimise the individual order-picking tasks within the various applications.

The new workstations feature ‘pick-to-light’ and ‘put-to-light’ technology. A touch screen at the centre of the workstation allows the operator to keep his or her head straight and avoid neck strain, with every process being identified at a single glance and noise also controlled. The TÜV- and CE-certified Pick-it-Easy workstations are said to allow error-free preparation of up to 1,000 orders per man-hour.
