Bury St Edmunds-based logistics firm Cross Country Carriers has raised over £1,200 for their official charity, Prostate Cancer UK, as part of an event to celebrate their 35th year in business.
The Palletways network member, which was founded in 1978, held an activity day for its staff and customers to mark its landmark anniversary. The event, which was opened by the local Mayor, included a visit from Palletways’ 61-ft tall dragon-shaped hot air balloon, which holds a Guinness world record and was the first in the UK to have a glass-bottomed basket.
Jon Humphry, Managing Director of Cross Country Carriers said: “To reach 35 years in business is a real achievement. We have had to weather some tough economic climates, particularly in recent years, but the hard work and dedication of our staff has helped to make the business what it is today”.

Cross Country Carriers currently employs 46 staff, handling approximately 200 pallets of goods each day. Having started with a single second-hand transit van, the company now runs a fleet of 27 vehicles and is part of Europe’s largest palletised freight network.
