Pallet-track donates £13,000 to Alzheimer's Society

The number 13 may be unlucky for some, but not for leading dementia charity The Alzheimer’s Society after it received £13,000 from award-winning Wolverhampton logistics business Pallet-Track.

Throughout 2019 Pallet-Track, based in Millfields Road, Wolverhampton, staged a series of fundraising events to boost the coffers of its nominated charity which has the twin objectives of campaigning for change and the funding of research into a cure for people living with the UK’s biggest killer disease.

Among other events, the main thrust of the fund raising came from Pallet-Track’s annual gala banquet, its golf day and the company’s Easter raffle.

Nigel Parkes, managing director of Pallet-Track, said: “The charity sector is a crucial component to looking after disadvantaged and vulnerable people in our society, so it is beholden upon all of us who are able to support their tireless work.

“Every year we select a worthy cause and last year it was the turn of the Alzheimer’s Society, a fantastic charity which supports people with the illness and carries out ground-breaking research so one day there might be a cure for a disease that deprives so many families of a loved one.”

Emma Butler, from The Alzheimer’s Society said: “The charity sector is under increasing pressure which is why we rely on the continued support of businesses such as Pallet-Track so we can continue our work towards a cure and realising our vision of a world without dementia.”

The £13,000 target beat that set in 2018 when Pallet-Track raised £12,500 for cancer charity Marie Curie which supports people living with terminal illnesses.
