LG Motion is one of the leading designers and manufacturers of highly sophisticated electro-mechanical motion control systems. The devices and systems are found in a wide range of industrial and scientific applications and often involve complex designs and configurations. In order to support the continued growth of the business in an increasingly complex technical automation environment, LG Motion has always invested in trainees and apprentices in order to maintain an influx of new young engineers who are enthusiastic and have potential to develop.

The latest apprentice to join the company, Ben Keifer, pictured with MD Gary Livingstone, is taking up an Advanced Electro-Mechanical course which will include training in wiring, controls, programming, the integration of components in more complex configurations. Much of this training will also recognise the application of Industry 4.0 concepts. Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship the company may offer the opportunity to continue further education through HNC/HND of degree should the individual so wish to continue his personal development.

Calan Kennard has just completed a two-year level 3 BCoT to achieve a BTEC level 3 in mechanical engineering and describes in a short video how Calan worked on a project for a college assignment to build a vertically mounted panel saw able to work on both an X and Y axis.
