Lisa Ramos, who lost her leg in a fork lift accident, will open this year’s Fork Lift Truck Association’s National Fork Truck Safety Conference, informing delegates of the severe, life-changing consequences of forklift accidents – for both victims and their families.
In 2006, Lisa was an administrator, working for a logistics firm. While crossing the warehouse one day, she was reversed into by a 2.5 tonne forklift. Her left leg was crushed and, tragically, required amputation above the knee.
Announcing the news, Association Chief Executive, Peter Harvey, said: “We so often talk about shocking facts and figures, but to hear a first-hand account of the long-term pain and suffering a single forklift accident can cause… that really puts the importance of forklift safety – and the value of the knowledge imparted at this event – into perspective.”
