21st century logistics businesses face the challenge of delivering in an ever-changing world, with the new technologies, modes of transport, a shifting workforce and other forces re-shaping the conventions which have dictated the shape of business to now. And with such rapid changes occurring daily, FTA’s Future Logistics Conference, to be held at ITT Hub 2020 in Farnborough on 13 and 14 May 2020, will provide the ideal opportunity to debate the blue-sky issues facing the industry, led by the event’s keynote speaker announced today (4 November 2019), Tim Peake CMG.

“Logistics is at a crossroads of opportunity,” says Elizabeth de Jong, director of UK Policy at FTA, “with new technologies and other disruptive forces driving changes in the way goods move, both domestically and across borders. Anything is possible, as our sector looks for new and improved ways of delivering for its customers. We are thrilled to have secured Tim’s services as keynote speaker at 2020’s Future Logistics Conference, to share his experiences and challenge the way that logistics, public transport and technology operates, both now and in the future. It promises to be a stimulating and thought-provoking session.

“FTA’s Future Logistics Conference brings together the broadest group of visionaries and innovators who are driving the evolution of the logistics industry, for two days of debate and discussion about the future direction of travel for the sector. It seems only fitting that we set the tone for the event with a speaker whose experience and thinking is from the epitome of future transport – space.”

Peake, 47, was the first British astronaut to visit the International Space Station, where his work during Mission Principia inspired millions about the possibilities which space could offer. A former test pilot, he is also a STEM ambassador, schools’ speaker and best-selling author.

His keynote speech will kick off two days of debate and discussions at the FTA Future Logistics Conference which will be held as part of the ITT Hub 2020. The four themes to be discussed at the event are Future Data, Future Business Opportunities, Future Vehicles and Future Communities, during 60 sessions with over 150 speakers. Located at the Farnborough International Conference and Exhibition Centre, the event will welcome more than 6,000 industry professionals to experience the future of logistics and passenger transport for themselves, with live vehicle demonstrations, exhibition and experiences a key part of the event.  For more information, and to register to attend, please visit: https://fta.co.uk/events/itt

Efficient logistics is vital to keep Britain trading, directly having an impact on more than seven million people employed in the making, selling and moving of goods.  With Brexit, new technology and other disruptive forces driving change in the way goods move across borders and through the supply chain, logistics has never been more important to UK plc. A champion and challenger, FTA speaks to government with one voice on behalf of the whole sector, with members from the road, rail, sea and air industries, as well as the buyers of freight services such as retailers and manufacturers.  For more information please visit www.fta.co.uk
