Seddons Plant & Engineers is offering a complete package of equipment to help deal with flooding in industrial and manufacturing premises, including pressure washers, water pumps and sediment filters designed to remove pollutants from contaminated water.

From the company’s Taskman Pressure Washer range, the Mini Bowser Washer is most commonly used across the industrial and manufacturing sector, as its portable nature makes it suitable for use in restricted areas where vehicle access is impossible. With its own water supply via a 120 litre water tank, the Mini Bowser Washer makes mobile pressure washing easy in areas where finding a water source may be difficult. The Mini Bowser Washer is powered by a Honda GX160 petrol engine providing water pressure of 2250PSI/150 bar at 8 litres per minute. It has robust pneumatic wheels, an Interpump pump unit and a hose reel with 10 metres of high pressure hose provided as standard.

Pumps are another key range used for drainage, flood defence and water transfer. Pumps are available in 1 inch, 2 inch and 3 inch Petrol Driven Centrifugal, 3 inch Diesel Trash and 3 inch Diesel Diaphragm Pumps and the company also offers spares and accessories such as Delivery and Suction Hoses. Seddons Plant & Engineers Ltd has recently seen an upsurge in the demand for Electrical Submersible Pumps, principally 110V, and Puddle Pumps, attributed to an increase in flooding due to climate change.

When floods occur, polluted water can enter water and drainage systems and the organisations responsible can be prosecuted and hit with fines amounting to tens of thousands of pounds. Seddons Plant & Engineers Ltd offers a range of Filtration Systems for use in conjunction with Water Pumps to remove contaminants that could otherwise pollute water.

A key model in the range is the Oil and Sediment Filter, which is easily connected with cable ties and can be repeatedly used to remove oil and sediment from water. It retains 20kg of sediment and 2.5 litres of oil, removing oil sheen and sediment down to 100 microns. If such a device is not used and the water is heavily contaminated with oil and/or sediment, utility companies would otherwise have to arrange for a tanker to pump out the water and take it off site for disposal at a cost of around £1,000. Seddons Plant & Engineers Filters are re-usable and prevent the need to tanker away contaminated water, as well as ensuring that any pumped water is clean.
